Ella got a great surprise today. She has long outgrown her Dora bike with training wheels. Her papaw noticed this while he is here visiting (and she may have mentioned it to him a time or two). Well, Papaw couldn't help but having an excuse to spoil his granddaughter so he bought her a big-girl pink and purple bicycle without training wheels!!
Ella was completely unaware of any of this. We all met at the park to play and we kept Ella and the girls occupied while Papaw snuck up behind her with her brand new bike. Ella was excited in her own way (she is timid and doesn't show her emotion right away). I think she was a bit taken back. However, Hannah had no problem showing her excitement for Ella. Right away Hannah, knees bent looking straight into Ella's face, exclaimed, "Ella, you are ONE... LUCKY... DUCKY!"
Wow... That really makes a momma proud. Hannah has a huge heart! God has gifted her with a giving spirit and a spirit of genuine joy. Most three year olds would've gotten jealous asking for their own brand new beautiful bike, as would be expected for that age. But, sweet Hannah, not through anything Jason or I have done, was genuinely excited for her sister. What a blessing!
Both the girls "rode" the bike all around the park. Ella looked so little on the big bike but it fits her quite well. Hannah, little legs barely reaching the pedals, loved being pushed around on the sparkly new bike. And Gracyn, wanting some action, kept following the girls around on it... But she was a bit too timid to give it a try. Maybe in a year or two.
Just the Six of Us
Six may seem like a lot but only to others. It is who we are. Some people like peace and quiet (who doesn't?), but the quiet we lack we gain all the more in giggles, feet scampering, I love yous, tickles, tiny voices singing. Being a mother to these four amazing little people and a wife to the most incredible person I know is a blessing that can't be put into words; I am living my dream.
