So the girls had their very first dance class yesterday. As we were getting out of the car Hannah announced excitedly, "This is going to be SO much fun!!"
They entered the class timidly but willingly... And I, with 8 other moms, squeezed my face into a 2 foot square window to watch their reactions. Would they fall apart the moment they were asked to plia, or would they participate and jump right in as though they'd been dancing all their short little lives? Well, the answer fell somewhere in between.
At some point I found myself smiling ear to ear at they way they adorably participated in plias and "pizza slice" stances and the moments they shied away from fairy wands and somersaults. They were there before me, in their own skin, reacting true to their own sweet, precious personalities.
Ella, a whole year older than Hannah, participated in everything she was asked to do. Even when she was asked to perform in front of everyone, a difficult task for Ella's timid personality, she did amazingly well. While many other little girls hopped around the room with their teacher by their side all the while watching themselves in the mirror, Ella hopped along side the teacher watching every move the teacher made making sure to do the same. True to form for sweet Ella.
Hannah had a difficult time performing in front of the class. Though she came home and did all the hops and skips as though she learned simply by watching. She tells me she will participate in everything next week, for sure.
My FAVORITE part of the whole morning is when the teacher was doing an introductory activity. She went around to each girl and asked, "Who is your favorite princess?" When it came to Hannah's turn, without a thought she pointed straight to her big sister. THAT was simply priceless.
