This is one of those stories I can (kinda) laugh at now, but at the time I wanted to hang my children up by the toes!!!
My typical night (because Jason is not home some nights until 7:30) goes something like this. Tell E and H to go upstairs and get ready for a bath. Nurse Gracyn, put her down, and head upstairs to bathe the big girls. So, last week, I did my usual. "Girls, I want you to head upstairs, undress, and get ready for a bath, K?"
Do-de-do, "OK, Mommy!"
As I'm nursing G, I hear the water running. The girls have been told recently not to play in the water... It is off limits. They like to fill their kitchen pots with water then carry it to their oven in their bedroom, of course spilling 3/4 of it on the way. Thus, our new rule: No playing with water anymore. So, I hear the water running, thinking I'll have to have a serious talk with them when I'm finished.
I put G down to sleep and casually do a few things before heading upstairs. Had I known what I was about to see, I would have definitely headed up much sooner. Coming upstairs I hear giggles and the pitter patter of little feet running from bedroom to bathroom. I begin to panic. "On, no, what are they doing? I can tell by the type of giggle it's not good."
Walking into the bathroom, I witness Ella throwing a toy into a bathtub filled with water.... and every last toy from her closet shelves. The tub was FILLED to the top with things like puzzles, an electric piano, doll house dolls, baby dolls, toy instruments... You name it, it was there.
All that could come out of my mouth was, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Like she knows.
Well, I guess I underestimated... "We thought it was funny, Mommy."
"I'll show you funny," I thought.
So... if anyone is looking for some great toys, we have some to go to a good home where little girls and boys take care of their toys.
Just the Six of Us
Six may seem like a lot but only to others. It is who we are. Some people like peace and quiet (who doesn't?), but the quiet we lack we gain all the more in giggles, feet scampering, I love yous, tickles, tiny voices singing. Being a mother to these four amazing little people and a wife to the most incredible person I know is a blessing that can't be put into words; I am living my dream.
