It was a long anticipated travel... We were thrilled to be traveling back to Indiana since we had not been as a family for two years. As soon as we entered Grandma Kate's house I felt completely at home, as though we had never left. There is something uniquely comforting about her home... She fulfills her role of "Grandma" perfectly, always having the best snacks on hand for the girls, a wonderful homemade meal steaming in the oven, and everything arranged just right for our stay to be most comfortable.
As the conversations began to flow, I took a moment to quietly cherish the time and memories we were creating there. There's just a sweetness in hearing everyone catch up on each other's lives... the sounds of card games at the kitchen table... the jokes and jabs that only family can get away with... It's such a joy to go home... to feel at home even when we are miles away. That is what family is all about.
