The girls spent the week of Easter waking each morning to a new Easter egg with a special object inside. The object helped to tell the story of Jesus' last week... a leaf for Palm Sunday, a cotton ball of perfume for Mary washing Jesus' feet, bread for the Last Supper, etc. When we finally arrived at Easter Sunday the egg was empty. We read the story from the Bible and I explained that the body of Jesus was put inside a cave called a tomb... On the third day Jesus went up to heaven to be with God and so the "cave" was empty.
That night as we were praying before our meal, the girls chimed in with all the things they were thankful for... Hannah sweetly shouted, "The empty cave!" and Ella replied, "and for taking our punishment." So much beauty in their childlike faith.
But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18:16-17
