Fireworks All Done?

Sickness struck the Anderson household once again... Daddy and Hannah came down with something yucky on our beautiful Fourth holiday. We had such wonderful plans for the day, too! A sweet family with two girls E and H's age was going to come over for a cookout before heading to the fireworks. With all that down the tubes, I was bound and determined to take Ella out for her first fireworks! SOOOO... She and I shared a milkshake at Applebees (and had more fun that a mom and two year old daughter should) then headed to the fireworks! We drove down an old country highway to a country church that was preparing for the grand display. Ella played and giggled as everyone roamed about finding the perfect spot for their lawn chairs. I watched her blissfully run through the grass on a warm July night. Our friends came along and we joined them on the grass for the show of the year. The first firework set off and Ella jumped into my arms. Her body shivered as she hid her face in my shoulder. The (nearly) rest of the show was played out much the same. She did turn around for a few minutes, but would not allow me to take my hands off her ears. "Mommy, home," she kept saying... So, I threw all my own "memory making" plans out the window hoping that next year my sensitive soul will not be as scared of strange noises and bright lights in the sky. As I put her to bed tonight, with bright eyes she pointed to the window and asked earnestly, "Fireworks, all done?" "Yes, Babe, fireworks all done." Though it wasn't what I planned, it went down in my memory book as a great fourth!
Just the Six of Us
Six may seem like a lot but only to others. It is who we are. Some people like peace and quiet (who doesn't?), but the quiet we lack we gain all the more in giggles, feet scampering, I love yous, tickles, tiny voices singing. Being a mother to these four amazing little people and a wife to the most incredible person I know is a blessing that can't be put into words; I am living my dream.
